Bertolt Brecht, the famous playwright and poet, fled Nazi Germany where he was on Hitler's death list. The film covers Brecht's testimony where he was subpoened by HUAC under suspicion of being a Communist. His testimony is one of a clever writer in a verbal chess game with political functionaries.
The Diary of Sacco and Vanzetti
The Diary of Sacco and Vanzetti is a film about the most famous criminal/political case in American jurisprudence. The Sacco-Vanzetti case rocked Boston and the world from 1920-27. It resonates as much today as it did in the 1920's when terrorist bombings, fear and hatred of immigrants, judicial prejudice and mass deportations dominated the hi-ways and by-ways of Americana. Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti become involved with the Anarchist movement. Their names were on a list of immigrants marked for deportation or for criminal prosecution. They were arrested and charged with the crime of murder and robbery. In 1927 the two men were executed in Boston. Fifty years later, Governor of Massachusetts, Michael Dukakis, cleared their names by proclamation.

Article 9 Comes to America
Article 9 Comes to America introduces the historical context that gave birth to a new Japanese Constitution one year after WW II. Article 9 of that constitution has prevented Japan from making war for 70 years. It is a fragile peace. The main character in the film, a right wing conservative challenges the modern day proponents of world peace, including peace Ikons, Noam Chomsky and Helen Caldicott. Point by point he challenges the world peace movement with compelling arguments. As he ponders the fate of the world he lives in, childhood memories begin to play on his mind and heart. He begins to see Article 9 as a possible solution to a world threatened with nuclear annihilation.
